In The Ballet Class, Degas doesnt follow conventional balance rather he used an asymmetrical pattern with diagonal draw offs though out the picture plane similar to the breeds in Nipponese prints. By placing two collections of social dancers in opposite coignes he leaves the rig center of the painting empty creating a diagonal line similar to the Japanese artwork of Kitgawa Utamaro, Women under Wisteria. The female academician session in the chair in the foreground is the focal point. and behind her is a group of dancers that also create a diagonal line with the ramification of one dancer pointing to the nook and cropped off the canvas.

The smaller group in the top left over(p) hand corner balances the piece by the way the dancers undecomposed leg is pointing behind her and her right arm is increase forward. These dancers positions gives the painting stability. The man, we assume is the teacher, is watching this smaller group across the empty diagonal space th at mirrors the actual move of the report t! he lady is holding. The baseboard across the back mole is safekeeping the flow of the eye around the room and is couple with the dancers extended leg as well as the behold of the instructor.
